Itinerary
Day 1: Sydney – Wollombi Village – Hunter Valley (160 km)
Depart from Sydney, drive through the scenic Tourist Route 33, which was convict built in the 1800’s, traversing stunning sandstone gorges, razorback ridges and towering passes all featured along Tourist 33, showcases some of the most stunning countryside in NSW.
First stop is Yengo National Park, you can explore ancient Aboriginal rock art and other indigenous heritage at the Finchley Cultural Walk.
While enjoy your lunch at nearby charming Wollombi Village, you can also visit nearby Wollombi Museum, art and craft galleries in the village.
Continues 40km drive to Hunter Valley.
Take time to visit into a winery/cellar door to enjoy your first Hunter Valley Semillon or Shiraz. There Pokolbin area of the Hunter Valley is where you’ll find the big names in Australian wines including Tulloch, McWilliam, Drayton, and McGuigan.
Enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants or cafes located at a winery.
Day 2: Hunter Valley – Sydney (160 km) (Breakfast)
Start the day with a Sunrise Hot Air Balloon flight, in views of the picturesque wine regions of Pokolbin, Lovedale, Rothbury or Broke. Balloon flights last approximately one hour, followed by a delicious gourmet breakfast and champagne celebration at the famous Peterson House Winery and Restaurant.
Take part in a winery tour and discover what wine making is all about and learn the processes involved in getting the fruit from the vine into the bottle, you will also taste some of the wines as well.
Enjoy lunch at the Hunter Valley Gardens Village with several cafes and restaurants on offer,
Participate in a cheese educational talks at the Hunter Valley Cheese Company, you will learn about the cheese making process, and will have the opportunity to taste 5 regional cheese & matched crackers.
Drive from Hunter Valley back to home.
