Every year, whales migrate along Australia’s east coast. They head north to the warmer waters of the Queensland Coast and Coral Sea to mate and give birth from May to August; and return south towards the Antarctic waters from September to November.
It isn’t too hard to spot the whales from onshore highlands during the migration months at vantage points such as Cape Solander, South Head and North Head of Sydney Harbour. However, if you want to take a closer look at these giant creatures and take a good photo of them, the best option is to take a whale watching cruise.
